Empty teeth

Sometimes when we go to the dentist with a toothache or other dental problems, we find that we have no choice but to pull a tooth. It may be obvious to some of us that after tooth extraction we have to fill the gap with a kind of denture, but some of us do not see any reason to hurry and may leave the gap for a long time.

Procrastination in replacing a lost tooth can lead to many problems, so as soon as you lose a tooth, you should think about replacing it. If you do not know why, you will find out by reading more.

Stuck food in the place of empty teeth

The first thing you probably experience very soon is that every time you eat, food particles get stuck in the tooth cavity. After a while, you may get used to this condition and not notice the presence of food particles in the cavities of the teeth, but this does not mean that this condition has no consequences.

After a while, the food particles start to spoil and smell, so one of the consequences is bad breath. Bacteria, on the other hand, begin to feed on food particles and grow and multiply rapidly, thus filling the area with bacteria.

If you do not pay special attention to the empty space every time you brush your teeth, plaque and bacteria may not clean up, causing nearby teeth to rot and gum infection. Unfortunately, even if you pay attention to these areas when brushing, you may still not be able to clean them well, especially if there is a gap in the back of the mouth and the toothbrush does not have good access to all adjacent tooth surfaces.

Not chewing food properly on empty teeth

If you have lost one or more of your teeth and have not replaced them with a denture, you will naturally not be able to chew food properly and the food will enter the stomach without being well chewed and crushed.

This condition can cause digestive problems such as acid reflux or bloating and heartburn. Each tooth has a specific task and we need them all to chew food properly. If you lose a tooth, you need to fill in the gaps so that food processing is not disrupted in the mouth.

Empty teeth and problems with pronunciation of words

Sometimes the position of the missing tooth is such that it greatly affects the pronunciation of words and letters. When pronouncing and speaking, the tongue adapts to the position of the teeth, so if one or more teeth are missing, they can affect speech.

The crookedness of the neighbor's teeth

All natural teeth have the ability to move slightly because they are not fused to the bone but are attached to the bone by filaments called periodontal ligaments, which are flexible fibers. This is why teeth move under the pressure of orthodontic brackets or other forces.

When the tooth does not see any resistance or obstacle next to it, it gradually moves and tilts towards it.

In this way, the adjacent teeth are deflected towards the cavity. Also, the opposite tooth, which no longer sees resistance against itself, protrudes more as a result, as a result of which the bite position is disturbed and the fit and coordination of the teeth with each other is lost.

The result is that after a while your teeth become crooked and you need orthodontic treatment.

Loss of implant placement conditions

From the moment the tooth is emptied, the jawbone is no longer stimulated, thus stopping the bone regeneration process.

Hence, the jawbone gradually decays and shrinks. If the implant is not implanted, you will lose the implant condition after a while because the jawbone is no longer ready to support the implant.

Therefore, if you want to replace your tooth with an implant, you must do so as soon as possible. If the jawbone breaks down, you will need to have a bone graft or use other methods instead of implants to implant.
