Filling the cavities of the teeth with dental implants
Implants were by no means popular today in the last decade. Suffice it to go back to 15 years ago, we will see that dental implants are not offered as a treatment at all in most medical centers. Only in a very limited and rare way in some leading centers in this field could the use of such a method be observed. Today, dental implants are the most reliable and best way to replace a tooth.
Another problem with using implants as a proper reconstructive procedure is that doctors are not up to date. There are many dentists who have seen the necessary training courses over the years but have not updated themselves for any other reason. These dentists may not have a good understanding of the use of dental implants or if they do, they may not be able to do so.
Unfortunately, there are cases in which the dentist has tried to update his information and get acquainted with this new and developing method, but he has not been able to learn it well. The result is that the patient, after seeing this dentist, finally and while still holding the implant in half and half in the mouth, refers to another doctor to complete the incomplete work or at least the pain and problems and Solve the problems that have arisen.
Regardless of these issues and problems, it is not bad for you as a patient to be familiar with implants. In the following, we will introduce the different parts and components of the implant in order to eliminate the ambiguities and misconceptions that may have formed in your mind about this restorative device.
What makes the situation worse is the existence of companies whose job it is essentially to copy the designs and products of other companies. Some other companies also design different parts and implant parts that are designed to be interchangeable and give them to other companies.
Another problem is the constant updating and change of implant designs and structures. Just like cell phones and any other technology, implants have undergone many changes over time. An issue that raises the need for after-sales service.
Here we try to briefly introduce the main parts of a dental implant.
Different parts and sections of dental implants
This part is placed under the gums and inside the bone. Of course, in some older models, this part is not implanted in the bone. There are some types of implants that are one-piece and complete and the fixture and abutment are connected to each other. But the usual shape of the implant is that a fixture is placed in the jawbone.
2. Healing screw / cover screw (healing screw / cover)
This piece is implanted in a two-stage surgery. This piece is placed inside the implant and actually covers the open side of the implant. That is, the gum tissue will be placed on the heel or cap screw.
3. Healing abutment / cuff
The Healing Abutment is placed in the mouth at a surgical stage. Of course, this piece may be implanted after it has been opened on the implant. This part of the implant will be visible in most cases after the initial work of the implant is completed because it protrudes slightly from the gum tissue. Healing abutment has different colors that indicate its different sizes. In addition, there may be a label on it that contains other information for identification.
4. Impression coping
After the heel abutment is removed, the piece is inserted to mold the shape of the tooth and its placement in the tissues. Impression coupling is used in two methods, open tray and closed tray, and has different sizes. Impression couplings have other differences in other details that are determined according to the conditions and needs.
5. Restorative abutment
There are different types of restorative abutments, including temporary abutments, prefabricated abutments, flat or angled abutments, and custom zirconium, titanium, and other metal abutments molded or machined, and abutments for joints. They are artificial teeth (overdentures (used (ball joints, etc.)).
6. Abutment screw
This piece connects the repair abutment to the fixture. Most fittings on dentures with screws are made in one piece.
7. Model implant or model implant (implant replica)
This piece is used to build and design a real and practical model
8. Manual screwdriver
Cap screws and heel cuffs are used to insert and tighten the abutment screws
9. Torque wrench
Torque Ranch is a tool like a wrench. A torch ranch head is designed so that a screwdriver can be inserted and attached to it. In this way, it is much easier to tighten the torches of abutments, applications, etc. In addition, it is much easier to open screws and fittings that are tight and do not open easily.
The tools and parts we introduce here do not include all the parts and components used in an implant. But these are just some of the goal setting shareware that you can use. Familiarity with this limited number of parts is also relatively difficult and requires further study. Here we are only implicitly referring to the devices that are most used in the discussion of implants and are used by almost all dentists. You need to keep in mind that the more information you have about the implant and how it works, the better you can decide.
